The first of two long weekends loomed so Sarah and I decieded to go off on a jaunt in the campervan. We packed up thursday night and set off early on Friday, to try and beat the most of the long weekend traffic. Following some different sat nav directions we made it to Beer in the morning. Then next to check in. We stayed in the same place that we stayed in last time we visited, a couple of years ago, but I think that both Sarah and I didn't remember quite how steep the slope was on this site. It was not so bad for a tent, but a campervan seems to make the slope even more extreme than normal. Therefore to gain a level site we backed to van up righ next to another pepsons site. Van set up, sun shining we headed to the beach.
Beer is set in a sloping valley and the beach is at the bottom of the hill. Always good for walking to the beach or town, but it was quite steep to walk back. We spent the rest of the day at the beach before heading back to the van for dinner (BBQ) before enjoying a leisurly stroll along the cliff top. Starting out on the Coast Path, I soon got bore of this and wanted a better view so after passing by loads of rabbitts I grabbed Sarah's hand and dragged her up to the top of, what I thought to be, the hill. It turned out that it was one of those hilly places that when you climb the hill, you end up just at the bottom of another hill. Having set out across a farmers field we thought to return to the Coast Path. Our path was blocked by a gate, one one side was us, on the other side a flock of sheeps and lambs. Creeping through a very squeaky gate, trying not to do disturb the lambs too much, we made a break for the Path, running to try and get away from the now anxious sheep. Back at the top of the hill the sheep have now decided to try and get through the gate that we came through. Apparently the grass is greener on the other side, but for me the grass is just ridiculously green everywhere.
