A Day at the Beach!

Pictures are here!

So summer has almost arrived, I don't really want to say that as it might jinx it, so yesterday Sarah dragged me out to the beach. We headed off in Steve to Southerndown to find that the beach was increadibly packed. See the picture on the link above, tuen around and there is nothing but people and cars. We had a great day in the sun, lazing in the grass, yes my hayfever went wild, and I also went swimming in the watrer, but you couldn't even see the bottom. Oh well, it was realy refreshing, swimming in the brown water. I flew my kite for a bit, seeing how close I could swoop the wing towards Sarah sitting next to the van. I almost had to go and save my kite as there was a dog nearby that didn't really like the look of it, especially when I crashed it into the long grass.

Bike Ride

I went for a bike ride this afternoon and took my camera and tok a couple of shots. It was more fun to just ride around. I went up around Heath Park for a difference and grabed the picture of the clouds, they were not actually this dark but I hit 'I'm feeling lucky' in Picasa and it turned out this way. I kind of like them. The other pictures are of a puddle on the side of the road. There was some amazing reflections in it, but I forgot to reset the exposure compensation on the camera, so they turned out really dark. Oh well not too bad i can just capture some more pictures later.

Talking on the phone

I was talking to mum this morning on the phone while sitting in the first sun that I have seen all week. The sunshine on the seat in the garden was amazing for the short time that the sun was out. I also grabbed my camera and took a couple of shots of a few bugs that I noticed. I guess that they were also out enjoying the short spell of sunshine. I have edited the pictures, and cropped them to try to get all the details in.

Camping in Bradford on Avon

So Sarah and I packed up the van for a jam packed weekend of fun!

After struggling the bikes into the back of the van we headed off to the campsite for the night. Arriving at around half eight we followed the instructions from the owners to "just park straight ahead anywhere on the grass". A quick set up, well everything is already in the van, and we jumped onto the local road on our bikes for a short trip to the local pub. Only one drink as there was not that much going on, only one farmers dog, so we went back to the campsite to relax and unwind.

Saturday came and there was a break in the weather, only sunshine and showers forecast, so our plan for riding our bikes from Bradford on Avon to bath was on. A nice flat canal side ride was well worth it. We passed many crazy canalers (people that live in the canal network) and their amazing boats, including a massive cruise ship lifeboat that actually didn't seem to far out of whack. The ride from Bradford to Bath was really flat as there was no locks, but we did go over a few aqueducts, which were quite amazing. Such engineering for something that was built over a hundred years ago. A bridge of water over a river, made only of stone, but it didn't leak at all.

Bath was busy as usual, but we did spend some time getting away from the crowds hanging around the baths, a spent a little time walking along the back streets and sticking our noses into the local shops.

The trip back along the canal was a bit better as there was not as many people out and about. We did have to take shelter a couple of times under some trees when the showers caught up with us. The showers did make our bikes a bit muddy as the precipitation had done a bit more than dampen the dust. Sarah and I spent most of the return leg thinking that we were going slightly down hill, till I realised that we were heading inland therefore slightly up hill. Not bothered, neither could the rain dampen our mood as the clicks ticked over, and quicker than we thought, we were back in Bradford on Avon. Steve was still waiting for us in the long stay car park, so we jumped in and headed home. What a day, only of to Thorpe park tomorrow.

A little bit of study, never to late, before we get on the plane. So what are we going to see first?
