Weekend in Brecon
Sarah and I escaped for the weekend to Brecon. We found a great little campsite and the weather also turned up. Saturday was fantastic! The sun was out and the day was very nice. We ended up hiring a canoe and going for a paddle down the canal. Very peaceful until we realised that we were cutting it close to getting the hired canoe back on time, so all hands to the engines and off we went. Sarah took a leisurly approach, but I was able to provide a bit of speed so that we did not mis the deadline. Earlier in the day I had stalked a couple of butterflies that were flying around in the meadow where we were camping. I am realy pleased with these two shots. The level of detail that I was able to catch was amazing. I especially like the shot that I took on the top with the purple flowers. I had to chase the butterfly from a couple of flowers to get the shot! They are both croped down to this size and a bit of lucky editing in picasa. I am ver pleased with these.

Monmothshire
Erin was in town this weekend and to keep ourselves busy we went for a day out in Monmothshire. We headed off in the morning and stopped briefly just north of Chepstow for a walk up a hill and a view out over the valley to the Severn Estuary.
From there we headed off to Tintern Abbey. We had been there not that long ago but Erin had never been there befor, so we decided to visit. As the ast time Sarah and I visited, the ruins of the Abbey were just as impressive. Erin went so far as to say that it was one of the most impressive churches that he had visited on his traves around Europe.
| A honey bee working the dandylion in the grass of the Abbey. I forgot to change the camera settings and was a bit annoyed wiht myself after I reviewed the pictures. Doh! |

Picture of the day!
This is a picture of a gull of some sorts that was hunting in the shallow waters of Cardiff Bay one evening. I had gone for a bike ride down to the bay to hopeflly take a couple of pictues of the sunset, but as it tuened out the sunset was not that special. Nice oranges and reds, but with out any clouds in the sky there was nothing to make it jump out at you. So i settled for a couple of pictures of the gulls playing in the shallows. I managed to catch this picture just at it decided to dive fro a bit of food, and caught a few splashes fro his actions.
A very nice evening.
today started off as a very heavy downpour of rain, that made it almost impossible to see on the motorway heading to work this morning. But this afternoon the sun had burned of the clouds and it turned into a very nice afternoon/evening. After Sarah and I welt for a short walk around the park a go home and decided to sit in the garden with a little fur in to keep us cosy and warm. Hopefully this is the start id the summer!
