Christmas day delights
Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere was not that different from Christmas in Australia. Well apart form the temperature. The different traditions, like mince pies and ready pealed prawns. Being away from your family. Just a couple of different things.
An unko afternoon or just plain unlucky
It seemed that my Christmas present to Sarah went down well. It was great till after we went to IKEA to get a larger frame for the picture. So far ok. It came time to go for a trial run in putting the picture in the large frame when I heard 'awww, it is fragile'. Turning to look I discovered that Sarah had accidently broken the temporary glass frame, Oh well it was only temporary anyway. Returning to my activity I was soon interupted again, this time with an exclimation of 'I broke it' . I realised now that Sarah was not really having a fantastic afternoon.
We eventually moved on to the putting together of the fantastic TV stand that Sarah had purchased in IKEA. Half was through that there was a bit of an incident when I turned around holding a phillips-head screwdriver. Turning around energetically I accidently stabbed Sarah in the knee eliciting howls of pain and a couple of profanities. Anyway moving on. The last thing that happened and what I thought toped off Sarah's evening was when she grazed herself on on of the upturned legs of the TV stand. This time there was loads of blood, almost so much that she nearly had to become a recipient of a tranfusion. Well not quite.

Mooooving House
Over the last coupe of days i have been helping Sarah move into her new house. It is quite a fabulous dwelling, however as with all new places there is the ocasional customising that needs to be done. I think Sarah is having a blast in decorating the house, putting up pictures and curtains. It has been good fun doing the DIY projects, even if they were only small little screws here or there.

The Christmas Feeling.

Yesterday the Christmas spirit came a bit early. Yay! Adele and myself went out and got a Christmas tree for the house. We looked high, we looked low and eventually we found a Christmas tree in Sainsbury. Well you might say that a Christmas tree from a supermarket may be a bit plain, but ours is a fantastic. Especially as it was the last one AND we put it up together [Ahhh].
It was quite a journey or actualy an expedition in getting the tree. We started off looking down Blackstock road, but to our dissapointment the tree sellers were long gone, only leaving meager branches and needles lying in the gutter. It was quite a dissapointment :(. Moving forward we set off down to the christmas shop, a shop that appears before christmas then just as soon as it appeares it dissapears. They didin't have any trees or even and decorations. So off we went to Green Lanes where we would find Argos, Next and Sainsburys. All would disspoint us initially. Argos decided that they would run out of stock on everything that we wanted and Next decided to hike up all their prices on their trees and make it impossible for us to want to buy one. Sainsbury's had to our delight some live trees, but they were just a bit too expensive and had no decorations. So we eventually decided on our tree, much to my delight as we had been tramping round for nearly two hours and i was getting tired.
We got a cab back to the house and put up the tree while Adele
made some mulled wine. Rachael came home and was cheered up a bit and the Lucy arrived and was filledwith some christmas spirit. By the time Vicki arrived home we were settlerd in drinking mulled wine and had also invided the guys from downstairs up for a chat. It seemed that the house was filled with Christmas spirit. It was a nice evening that was topped off when i gave the girls their presents so they could open them together.

Ahhh... Old Man Winter is it?

So guess what? Well apparetly in the UK December is winter, not summer. So as far as for me i guess I have been pretty lucky. Until now. Winter has decided to rasie its head. In the last two days the temperature has dropped to the single digits. This means that in the mornings when I breathe out it looks like I have Supermans super breath and in the evenings when i breathe out it also looks like i have supermans super breath. Do you know what this means? Well it means that it is blody cold! The cold soggy leaves that remain on the footpaths are now crunchy again and the frost that lays on the ground out of direct sunlight never melting is a sign that the temperature has dropped.
I guess that what I am saying is that it is cold now, and I am enjoying it! Yes that is right, I am enjoying the cold. Wearing big jackets, binis and scarves all for their intended reasons, not just to make me look good, is actually not that bad. So far I have been getting away with a Jacket, jumper and shirt but I know that i will soon have to be wearing the Jacket, jumper, shirt, skivy, singlet, and thermals. I look forward to when the snow actually starts.

Da Vinci I aint... Master of the Rollerverse I am.
Got to spend an Awesome weekend in Cardiff with Sarah. What made it even better was that I was given the fantastic opportunity to become involved in the rejuvination of Sarah's new flat. Upon arriving at the flat I was put in charge of the London Stone wall, which to my credit, I was able to slap on a very respectable coat of paint. When this was later viewed by the landlord he was heard announcing "...Ed the Master of the Roller". This filled me with pride of my work and allowed me to take over the roller from the wonderful Sarah (who really didn't quiteknow what she was doing). It was all good fun and by the end of the day we had nearly completed the Master suite. It was a totally satisfactory experience for all those involved, it also earned me my lunch.

It's not the wet, It's not the cold...

I have uncovered the reason why I got a bit home sick on my arrival back into London. It was not the cold or the rain, but rather it was the lack of sun. Today I noticed it on my way home from school today. Walking down the street at 4:00 pm i realised that the sun had practically set. After a day of cold and rain (and wet play) I realised that I still like the rain, I actually do like walking in the rain. The cold also is not so bad. It was a bit different from Australia when i got here, about half the temperature, but after getting rugged up in a coat and a fantastic Australian made bini and scarf, the cold isn't so bad. I actually enjoy the cool morning walks to the train or bus.
So therefore I realise that it is neither the cold or the rain but actually the entire lack of daylight hours. Its also this lack of daylight hours that may be the reason that i have not yet been noticing the extremly low and grey clouds that have been covering this part fo the world.
